Every year in February, the Big Staircase in the Kyoto Station Building is full of competitors who will take part in this exciting race. About 80 groups, four members per group, try to ''run up'' the 171 steps to the top and compete for the fastest time. Don't miss this exciting winter event and join to cheer the racers on!

on the Big Stairway

The artistic Graphical Illumination on the Big Stairway began in 2012 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Kyoto Station Building. The main stairway (125 steps) is illuminated with approx. 15,000 LED lights, set along with elegant music. Enjoy the artistic seasonal illuminations of Kyoto.
