Celebrate a Special Christmas at the Kyoto Station Building

Illumination Fantasy 2019
Until March 28 Sat., 2020

The Kyoto Station Building and nearby areas will be romantically adorned with illuminations featuring the themes ''flowers'' and ''red'' along with delightful music.

22-meter Giant Christmas Tree at Muromachi Koji Square
Until Dec. 25, 10:00-22:00

The giant Christmas tree, the Station Building's representative winter symbol, will appear with its new 2019 design in front of the big stairway!

Nov. 30 Sat. & Dec. 15 Sun., 17:00-20:00

Hologram eyewear

Get the special ''Hologram eyewear'' and look at the Station Building's large Christmas tree. Enjoy the magical view.

Venue: In front of the Information Center, Muromachi Koji Square (at the bottom of the big stairway)
*The Hologram eyewear will be distributed free of charge to 2,000 people each day.

Collect stamps at illumination locations or join a quiz rally! First 500 people who can complete the missions will receive a special gift.

Santa Clause will appear at various sites within the Station Building. Ask Santa Clause to pose for a photo with you and create magical memories of Christmas in Kyoto this year!

''Christmas Ring'' Photo Spot

A large Christmas wreath will appear in front of the Information Center. Take a wonderful and happy Christmas photo!

Christmas ''Tokimeki'' LIVE!

Live radio broadcasting 13:00-14:00

After broadcasting a live talk show produced by KBS Radio station, a special Christmas concert will be performed by a popular guest singer, Shoko Nakagawa.

Venues: Muromachi Koji Square (at the bottom of the big stairway)
*In case of rain, held at Kita Piloti, next to the East Square.

Kyoto Station Eki Bldg. Night Marche
Dec. 21 & 22, 14:00-20:00

Join a fun Marche and find pretty and organic items. Live music will welcome and entertain visitors, too.

Venue: East Square of the Kyoto Station Building (around the Gazebo)
*In case of rain, held at Kita Piloti, next to the east square.

-IKEBANA Display-
Dec. 29-Jan. 5, 2020

The grand ''Ikebana Flower Arrangement Display'' will welcome visitors at Kyoto Station. Ikebana was started in the Muromachi period (14th-16th century) as an offering to the deities. Ikebana is now one of Kyoto's leading art forms, known throughout the world. 18 flower arrangement schools will present their splendid arrangements in the Station Building from the year-end through the New Year’s holidays. Feel the beauty and spirit of Japan.

Graphical Illumination PLUS
on the Big Stairway

The artistic Graphical Illumination on the Big Stairway began in 2012 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Kyoto Station Building. The main stairway (125 steps) is illuminated with approx. 15,000 LED lights, set along with elegant music. Enjoy the artistic seasonal illuminations of Kyoto.

* Due to the set-up of the Christmas tree, there is no display of Graphical Illumination Plus until November 14. Thank you for your understanding.

Illumination: 17:00-22:00
*Illumination time varies depending on the season.
*The illumination will not operate during special events.
