Tokusen Tsujiri-kori

This giant deep green shaved ice (kaki-gori) is topped with three kinds of ice cream: green tea ice cream & sherbet and vanilla. However, the best part is their sweet and rich green tea syrup! Started in 1860 as a green tea shop in Uji, this old company only uses the finest quality green tea for their creations.

Kinana, Soybean powder ice cream
500 yen (Gion Kinana)



Kinana is original and healthy ice cream made from soybean powder (kinako). The owner's pride in creating healthy and tasty things is reflected in their ice cream. Five flavors are available: plain, black sesame, red azuki bean, brown sugar syrup and green tea.

Warabi-mochi, bracken-starch dumpling
1,200 yen (Gion Tokuya)



Tokuya offers typical Japanese sweets. Their most famous treat is warabi-mochi. It is like a thick jelly made from bracken starch. Dip in sweet brown sugar syrup and soybean powder.

Seasonal Hand-made Ice Cream

Though uli uli is popular for their full volume loco moco or other Hawaiian meals, the friendly owner, Junko, also makes outstanding hand-made ice creams. A variety of sundaes using her ice creams are also well worth trying.
